The University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor, Prof. S.G. Kiama on Thursday, September 3, 2020, led the University in welcoming first-year students, September intake. During the traditional VC’s freshmen virtual address, Prof. Kiama stated that students will commence their studies after the orientation week, with lectures being conducted online. The orientation week aims at allowing students to settle down and expose them to the various activities, opportunities and the whole structure of the University of Nairobi.

The University of Choice for International Students

The University of Nairobi (UoN) has been registering many international students from different countries in Africa. Most of the international students are referred by their fellow countrymen who are either continuing students or alumni of the institution. Installation of Prof. Stephen Gitahi Kiama as the 8th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi

The installation of the new Vice-Chancellor is a University of Nairobi (UoN) traditional rite of passage since time memorial. The new Vice-Chancellor of the university is unveiled to the public by the University Chancellor, through the University Council. On June 5, 2020, the incoming 8th Vice-Chancellor of the university was inaugurated in a colourful event at the Taifa Hall, UoN Main Campus. Professor Stephen Gitahi Kiama takes over the university leadership from his predecessor Professor Peter Mbithi.

Dissertation to Journal Publication Training

The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Enterprise in collaboration with the Graduate School offered the Second Training Opportunity to post-graduate students on strategies to convert their PhD Dissertation to Journal publications. The training targeted both the PhD and Masters students.  It gave students crucial tips for ensuring avoidance of delays in graduating due to the regulations on publication of at least two journal articles for PhD students before graduation.
