UHIV Fellowship Curriculum Review Workshop

Director Quality Assurance Mr. Michael Wangai and Quality Assurance Officer Ms. Doreen Nanyama Inyo attended a Two-Week workshop, “UHIV Fellowship Curriculum Review Workshop” for development and review of curricula, modules, and lecture materials for Two-Year and Nine Months UHIV Fellowship courses at KCB Leadership Centre, Karen. The Director, Prof. James Machoki and his team from the Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases, College of Health Sciences, University of Nairobi, organized the workshop. Experts drawn from Universities and other organizations were involved in the review.

The courses were part of the UoN’s HIV Capacity Building Fellowship Programme that focuses on key issues essential in healthcare today.

The objectives of the workshop were to:

  1. Review the 2-year and 6-month curriculums to ensure in line with CUE
    guidelines and incorporate both face-to-face and e-learning options of
    training.
  2. Finalize teaching content for the 2-year, 6-month and short courses
    programs in line with CUE guidelines incorporating both face-to-face and
    e-learning options.
  3. Perform peer review for both 1-2 above and finalize for review by
    academic boards of the UoN.
  4. Update the participants on CUE/UoN curriculum development guidelines and ODeL modules and lectures development process.
  5. Develop a plan for completing the 12 online certificate courses.
  6. Identify the online tutors in readiness for official appointment for the 4 new online certificate courses.
