NATIONAL MULTIPLICATION TRAINING (PART II) FOR THE REGISTRARS IN-CHARGE OF ACADEMIC IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN KENYA

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in conjunction with the Commission for University Education (CUE), Moi University (MU), Laikipia University (LU), Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) and Kenya Universities Quality Assurance Network (KuQAn) organized a training targeting Registrars in-charge of Academics from Chartered Public and Private Universities that are due for Institutional Quality Audit and re-certification in 2018/2019. The goal was to train Registrars on the preparation of Institutional Self-Assessment Reports to facilitate External Assessment/ Institutional Quality Audit by CUE as mechanisms of quality assurance.

The National Multiplication Training took place in two (2) parts. The first training workshop was held between 21st and 24th January 2018 in Naivasha; while the second training workshop was held in Nakuru between 22nd and 25th May 2018. The following areas were covered during the second training workshop:

  1. Presentation of Institutional Self-Assessment Reports and review of the Reports by participants, Trainers, and Experts for improvement,
  2. Recap on Self and External Evaluation and refining expectation from CUE in readiness for Institutional Quality Audits,
  3. The significance of Self and External Assessment as mechanisms of a Quality Assurance at the institutional level in collaboration with Commission For University Education
  4. Preparation in readiness for External Institutional Quality Audit: Use of the prepared Self-Assessment Report in Quality Audit, documentation and compilation of evidence - Kenyan and German Experiences,
  5. Working with Commission for University Education Audit Team during External Institutional Quality Audit Exercise,
  6. Implementation of the External Assessment Report/ Audit Recommendations for Quality Enhancement, and
  7. Benchmarking – based on case studies National, Regionally and international– lessons and best performance.
