Location / Venue:

Alumni Association Office, Kenya Science Campus

The Acting Director Quality Assurance, Mr. Michael Mwareri Wangai registered as a Gold member of UONAA in a ceremony presided over by the Director Alumni Association Mr. Kenneth Sawe on November 1, 2017, at the Alumni Complex, Kenya Science Campus. Also present during the ceremony was the Deputy Director Quality Assurance, Dr. Peter Nzuki, and other members of staff from both the two offices.

In his welcoming speech, the Director UONAA thanked the new Gold member and exemplified the importance of joining the Alumni Association. The alumni members get various benefits including the networking opportunities, membership Smart Card that gives one access to various services both in and outside the University, recognition through distinguished awards, among others.

Mr. Wangai praised the good work of the Alumni Association and noted that many potential alumni members of the University would wish to join the association but they lack information on its mission and purpose. He promised to be the self-driven ambassador of the Association in different forums both in and outside the University. He further suggested several strategies that the association can use to reach out to the potential alumni including revitalizing Chapters to participate in regional and national forums.

For instance, the Education Chapter can engage directly with Kenya Primary Heads Association (KEPSHA), Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) and other associations to be involved in the activities especially during AGMs. Also, plan visits to the education-related organizations such as TSC, MOESt, KICD, KLB, CEMASTEA and much more.
